Helping create a world without lung cancer

Did you know lung cancer is the No. 1 cancer killer, yet it’s the most underfunded?

Did you know lung cancer kills twice as many women as breast cancer?

Did you know approximately 55 percent of Americans diagnosed with lung cancer are either former smokers or never smokers?*

We didn’t know, either. When Big Red Rooster discovered lung cancer impacts 1 in 14 Americans, including several associates’ loved ones, our team knew we had to help.

We’re teaming up with our Involve colleagues and sponsoring the 2011 Breathe Deep Columbus event on Saturday, Nov. 12 at Columbus’ North Bank Park. The family-friendly event will include a 5K timed run and 5K/1k untimed walks.

LUNGevity is a national grassroots foundation and the first of its kind dedicated to lung cancer. Within its first 12 years, LUNGevity granted more than $8.3 million to lung cancer research, including $2.3 million in the past year alone.

Involve President Craig Lerner serves on LUNGevity’s Board of Directors. He lost his father, Frank Lerner, to lung cancer in 2005.

For more information on how to volunteer, participate, or donate, visit www.lungevity.org/columbus.
